About
Your Career Tapestry
We carefully cultivate the community’s next generation of leaders through academic support, postsecondary exploration, and career readiness. It’s a process that exposes career seekers to different fields of study and working environments. We help show them where their particular interests, hobbies, and skills might fit and grow.

Who We Are
Your Career Tapestry (YCT) is a non-profit organization providing career exploration and development services for under-resourced youth to equip them with the tools they need to successfully navigate high school while making postsecondary decisions that lead to life and career fulfillment.
Our program meets the Illinois State Board of Education’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) standards as embedded in the CASEL wheel. At YCT, we address the gap where under-resourced elementary and high school students need more postsecondary planning learning opportunities. Benefits include increased self-esteem, personalized postsecondary success planning, and practical applications of concepts learned throughout the program. Dedicated staff, counselors, and community volunteers help guide YCT students toward lifelong success.
Our History
Ms. Rouls began weaving Your Career Tapestry after volunteering with mentoring programs and hearing from high school students who didn't regularly meet with their School Counselor and lacked career exploration opportunities. YCT provides under-resourced students with a career exploration program that includes experiential opportunities, such as setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, learning about their personality through a Student Success Report, practicing mindfulness and self-regulation through yoga, and various activities.
